Spectra Logic Engineers Score High on SNIA Certification ExamFibre Channel-SAN Certification Gives End Users A Standard To Judge Engineer Knowledge Of Storage Networking Technologies
Boulder, CO – January 15, 2002 – Spectra Logic Corp., the leader of high-density tape libraries for data protection and backup, today announced its tech support and sales engineers are participating in the Storage Networking Industry Association’s (SNIA) Fibre Channel-SAN (FC-SAN) Certification Program. To date, nine Spectra Logic engineers have completed testing for levels one (Professional) and two (Practitioner) of the FC-SAN Certification Program and have received high marks by SNIA.
SNIA’s vendor-independent program was created to aid enterprise-class customers in measuring a company’s storage networking expertise. The goal is to accomplish storage networking open standard certifications that IT organizations can trust.
Deborah Littlefield, manager of Spectra Logic’s professional services, is one of five Spectra Logic engineers to pass both one and two levels of the FC-SAN certification. “Becoming certified through the SNIA certification program allows individuals to prove their knowledge and proficiency in the storage networking arena. As an active member of the SNIA, we value its motivation to produce a standardized test that judges IT professional’s storage networking knowledge. The certification really assures our customers that they are working with expert storage engineers for support and services,” said Littlefield.
The SNIA is identifying the technologies that are integral for IT professionals to understand and deploy storage networks. In addition to FC-SAN certification, the SNIA is planning to offer certification to professionals who demonstrate knowledge and expertise in Network Attached Storage (NAS), IP Storage, as well as backup and restore and capacity planning. The FC-SAN Certification program is designed to test expertise at various levels and targets IT professionals in a variety of job functions.
“The certification program really benefits both end users and storage professionals. It provides end users a benchmark to measure, in this case, Spectra Logic’s technical skills. And in return, the program provides Spectra Logic proof of their storage networking knowledge and expertise,” said Paul Massiglia, SNIA’s Education Committee Chair. “Spectra Logic’s proactive participation in the SNIA testing confirms its commitment to the stability and growth of storage technology and its customers’ needs.”
